Before we undertake any treatment Pests r Us will conduct a thorough inspection of the room to assess the extent of the woodworm problem. We will also check for associated problems such as rot or damp.
Woodworm describes a number of species of
wood-boring
beetle that attack wood. The term “woodworm” is used as it is the larval or “worm” stage of the insects’ life where they bore and eat wood.
Identify the presence of the woodworm.
This is easily managed by scanning the surface of the wood itself. Woodworm is distinguished by a series of tiny holes that are known as flight holes in the wood surface. The holes will resemble a series of tiny pinpricks. Make sure to inspect the entire surface of the wood, since the condition may only affect 1 small section.
The key to bug control is controlling the pests. This simply means killing the adult bugs so that they don't have the opportunity to breed.
Your local council helps to do this by using larvicides. Larvicides are simply chemicals that kill an insect's eggs or larvae.
This might be effective in the short term, but it fails to control an insect population in the long term.
Call us to put your mind at rest. We will inspect and identify how big the problem is and what should be done about it.
