Wasp Occurrence
Wasps have now become a daily nuisance for anybody trying to have breakfast, lunch or dinner on the patio, use the swimming pool or have friends round for a BBQ, Their numbers are on the increase because of the recent laws past by the Government, that restricts the use of pesticides in farmers fields. In the past removing a wasp nest was enough to remove the threat. However, now, there are hundreds or thousands of wasps ready to take their place. Numbers are on the brink of becoming epidemic proportions.

There is a no quick fix for wasps, and spraying the roof of your house does not work because they only come back in a few days. You need to solve the problem once and for all by following the instructions in our wasp guide (Wasps in Pools comes free with every guide). Signs of a Wasp Infestation

Signs are dependent on species, but most often the workers and the nest are the most likely signs. Despite the fear they sometimes evoke, wasps are extremely beneficial to humans. Nearly every pest insect on Earth is preyed upon by a wasp species, either for food or as a host for its parasitic larvae. Wasps are so adept at controlling pest populations that the agriculture industry now regularly deploys them to protect crops.
However in domestic situations, wasps will sting if they are (or feel) provoked. Sometimes just walking too close to a wasps nest will cause an attack.

Getting Rid of Wasps

The easiest way to get rid of wasps is to find the nest, remove it, spray it with wasp killer dust and apply wasp repellent. They don't come back!! (THIS IS NOT A JOB THAT SHOULD BE UNDERTAKEN BY A NON PROFESSIONAL ) However when you cant find a nest and you have lots of wasps then what do you do?
Unfortunately under these circumstantces the house owner needs to take positive steps to repel them.
This includes gardening practices and plant selection, colour management, Pool maintenance, and DIY maintenance and finally actually laying bait and killing them.
It is important that you follow the advice given, but in most cases, if not dealt with, the numbers of wasps will increase very quickly. So it is essential that the nests is treated early before their numbers build up. If this is the case. it is not reasonable to expect an instant or quick fix as most wasps in a nest will out in the fields looking for food. Getting the numbers down to normal levels on large nests will take time, depending on how many wasps there were to start with.

Wasps in Chimneys

Wasps in pools.

The most frustrating situation with wasps is when they are swarming around and landing in your swimming pool, making it very unpleasant for the bathers. Such large quantities of wasps are generally from multiple nests nearby, but there are many reasons why you have lots of wasps in your garden. In many cases the culprits are returning from the pool to under roof tiles or bushes. However, under roof tiles is however the best place for them as they are many meters away and do not pose a sting threat. However if the roof is close to an area that is used then it is best treated.
Wasps in pools can be easily treated, as quite often the wasp issue is not with the pool itself.

A wasp nest, however small is easily spotted by the sheer numbers of wasps coming and going from one spot, anything else is just wasps coming and going. So best to look for a nest(s) in the vicinity and the surrounding area (including wasps nests in your neighbors garden).

Dissuading wasps from roof tiles, until now, has presented a potentially huge problem, as to treat the roof tiles of a whole house is not only very difficult, it's time consuming, very costly and most times unnecessary.

Treatments:

1) Single nest treatment (removal if nest can be seen), insecticide, kill the nest and apply repellent.
Note: Depending on how long the wasps have been left undisturbed a second chargeable application may be needed.

2) Call out to remove a wasps nest is what it is. It does not imply that the whole area/dwelling/building/structure is, or will be, free from wasps in the future. Should you wish whole areas treated then please contact us and we will prepare a quote.

Wasps are attracted by certain colours, they can smell water evaporating, they are attracted by cooking smells and are also attracted to the smell of wood and fruit trees with aphids. If you are attracting wasps, once you know this you are on the path to deterring them.
